🐾 Adoption FAQ – Tabby’s Tiny Tabbies
We’re so glad you're interested in giving a loving home to one of our tiny tabbies! Below are answers to the most common questions we get about the adoption process.
📝 How do I apply to adopt a kitten?
Start by filling out our adoption application form. Once we receive your application, we’ll review it and follow up via email or text within a few days. If we think one of our kittens could be a great match for your home, we’ll set up a time to chat and schedule a meet-and-greet. Please remember that this effort is completely volunteer, and I work full time and have a family, so if you don't hear back from me within 24 hours, please send a followup message to bring you back to the top of the inbox.
👋 Can I come meet the kittens before applying?
Because our kittens are fostered in private homes, we ask that you submit an application first. This is to make sure we have the necessary information to check out your background and references before inviting you into our homes. Once approved, we’ll invite you to meet the kittens in person—either at a foster home or a scheduled adoption event.
💰 Is there an adoption fee?
Yes. Our standard adoption fee is $250 per kitten under 6 months of age, which helps cover the cost of:
Spay/neuter surgery
Age-appropriate vaccinations
Microchipping
Deworming
Flea prevention
All the supplies, care, and vet visits they've had in the time they're with us.
We always spend far more than the fee covers during our time with these babies to make sure each kitten is healthy and thriving before going home. No one is involved in rescue to make money. That's what backyard breeders do.
🐈⬛ Can I adopt two kittens together?
Absolutely—and we encourage it! Kittens do better in pairs, especially during their high-energy, developmental months. They learn boundaries through play, keep each other company, and make for double the cuddles. We offer a reduced adoption fee (up to half off or essentially BOGO) for bonded pairs.
🏡 What are you looking for in an adopter?
We're looking for adopters who are ready to give our kittens a lifetime of love and care. That includes:
Indoor-only homes (unless adopting a barn cat, which will be clearly noted)
Willingness to provide regular vet care
A stable living situation
Time, attention, and patience for a young cat adjusting to a new home
We don’t have a one-size-fits-all checklist—every kitten is different, and we match based on what will help each one thrive.
📅 Can I reserve a kitten before they’re ready?
Yes, in most cases! If a kitten is still too young to go home but you’ve met them and it’s a good match, you can place a non-refundable deposit to reserve them until their adoption date.
🧳 What’s included when I bring my kitten home?
Each adopted kitten goes home with:
A medical record of all treatments and vaccines
Microchip registration info
A small bag of current food
Tips for a smooth transition
Lots of love from their foster family
Updates for the family that has raised the kitten or fostered the cat are appreciated.
🚫 What if it doesn’t work out?
We always take our kitties back—no questions asked. Whether it’s a bad match or unexpected life changes, we want to ensure every cat is safe and cared for. We do not offer refunds, but we’ll work with you to find a rehoming solution that’s right for you and the cat.
💬 I still have questions—how do I reach you?
You can email us using the form on this page or text me at the number on our petfinder page. We're happy to help answer any other questions and talk through next steps!
